Cruise: Blaze breaks out on P&O ferry with nearly 300 passengers onboard

A P&O Ferries spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “Last night there was a fire which was safely extinguished by the ship’s crew in one of the engine rooms of the Pride of Hull.

“There were no injuries and at no point was any passenger in danger.

“As a precaution, the ship will return to the berth in Hull and the damage will be assessed today.”

Though cruise travel has been halted for now, ferries continue to operate and are exempt from Government advisories.

The latest coronavirus advice from the Government states: “The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises against cruise ship travel at this time.

“This is due to the ongoing pandemic and is based on medical advice from Public Health England.
