Richarlison was left with the prospect of having to change his phone number after receiving ‘10,000 messages in five minutes’ because Neymar accidentally shared it on a live stream.
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar was unwinding playing video games when he had an incoming call from his international team-mate.
The Brazilian, without thinking, turned his phone around to show the camera and Richarlison’s number was clearly on show to viewers of the live stream.

Neymar got a call off the Everton striker and instinctively turned his phone to the camera
Neymar immediately realised his error with thousands tuned in and he confessed to Richarlison seconds later as the pair went on FaceTime together.
‘I think I’ve just shown your number without meaning to,’ Neymar said. ‘I swear it was an accident.
‘You’re going to have to change your number now.’
Richarlison appeared undeterred by Neymar’s gaffe but sent a warning to viewers that he would take a no-nonsense approach if anybody used the number.
Richarlison took to Twitter to reveal that Neymar’s gaffe lead to ‘10,000 texts in five minutes’
He vowed to block anyone who contacted him but his warnings fell on deaf ears with fans
‘Hey guys, whoever calls me is going to be blocked,’ he insisted. ‘Don’t call me.’
But as Neymar continued to live stream playing Counter Strike on Twitch at the weekend, Richarlison’s plea was ignored and his phone exploded with texts and calls.
Taking to Twitter, Richarlison revealed he had received tens of thousands of messages courtesy of Neymar’s mistake.
‘5 minutes and already more than 10 thousand messages, thank you @neymarjr,’ he wrote.
In response, Neymar sent four laughing emojis and added, ‘you are loved by the guys !!!!’
The nature of the messages remain unclear but the public release of his private number comes amid an investigation by Merseyside Police into ‘threats and hate crimes’ directed at Richarlison and Everton team-mate Jordan Pickford.
Neymar laughed off his mistake and told Richarlison he is ‘loved by the guys’ who messaged
Richarlison was sent off late on for a rash challenge on Thiago Alcantara and he will now miss games against Southampton, Newcastle and Manchester United.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: ‘We are currently investigating a number of offensive Tweets made in relation to two Everton footballers.
‘The language used in the Tweets is totally unacceptable and we are taking the reports extremely seriously.
‘Those who use the internet to target others, and who commit criminal offences such as making threats or committing a hate crime in doing so, are not beyond the law.
‘Detectives are making enquiries to identify the individuals who posted the Tweets and where we identify offences we will take action to bring those responsible to justice.’
