Lovecraft Country season two could be on the way in the near future and fans would happily welcome another instalment on HBO. The first season landed on the network in August 2020 and it was made up of 10 episodes, with the final episode airing on October 18. Fans are keen to find out whether there will be a second season and Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Will there be another series of Lovecraft Country?
Lovecraft Country is a horror drama series which is based on the 2016 book of the same name by author Matt Ruff.
The series is about a young black man called Atticus Freeman (played by Jonathan Majors), who travels across the US during the 1950s- a period of segregation.
He goes in search of his missing father but uncovers plenty of dark secrets along the way.
Although season two has not been officially approved by HBO, the odds are lookingg= good as both the cast and crew are eager for more episodes.
Jurnee Smollett, who plays Atticus’s friend Leti Lewis in the series, spoke on a Deadline podcast about the potential for season two.
She said: “I mean, it would be so wrong to folks, the way episode 10 ends, to not do another season. But listen, it’s not up to me. It’s up to the suits.”

When will Lovecraft Country season 2 be released?
As season two has not yet been given the green light, it is too early to say exactly when the new season will emerge on HBO.
If fans are lucky, they may see a new season before the end of 2021, however, with the coronavirus outbreak having a negative impact on production, they may have to wait until 2022.
News of the first season was announced back in 2017 and filming began in July 2018 – so it took about two years for the show to make it to screens.
With this in mind, fans will most likely have to wait until 2022 for new episodes, and they will most likely air weekly, following the pattern of the first season.

Who will be in the cast of Lovecraft Country season 2?
Hopefully, Smollett and Majors will be reprising their roles as Atticus and Letti in season two, and Aunjanue Ellis may be back as Hippolyta Freeman.
Fans loved seeing Vikings actor Jordan Patrick Smith take on the role of William, and they hope he will feature in some form or another in season two.
Michael K Williams may also return as Montrose Freeman, the father of Atticus, who has kept many secrets from his son.
Abbey Lee could be back as Christina Braithwite, a member of the secret society known as the Order of the Ancient Dawn.
Speaking to Elle about his character, Major said: “In America, public enemy number one is a Black man six feet or taller. Atticus is public enemy number one.
“We’ve again subverted that, and he’s our hero…As we move the armada and the troops down the field, it is a war of understanding. That’s what we’re really fighting for, to be understood and to be seen.”

What will happen in Lovecraft Country season 2?
As the series has not yet been given the green light it is a little too early to predict what will go down in season two.
Showrunner Misha Green used the novel of the same name for season one, but there are still eight more stories yet to cover, so there is plenty of material to work with.
In the last few episodes fans noticed how Diana (Jada Harris) had been cursed by Lancaster (Mac Brandt), so they will be keen to find out what happens to her.
Leti also convinced Tic’s grandmother to hand over the Book of Names, saying she would safeguard their legacy, so it will be interesting to see what happens next.
The series has received positive reviews so far, with critics saying the actors have given “heroic performances” on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the first series ahead of the season finale. One fan said: “Okay but when are they making season two of Lovecraft Country.”
Another viewer said: “I love #LovecraftCountry so much but at the same time I’m scared b/c I’m like is there going to be a season two?”
Hopefully, fans will hear within the next few weeks whether the series has been renewed for a second season, and it will be great news for many.
