Donald Trump assassination fears: Piers Morgan opens up on REAL threat to President

Piers Morgan is fearful Donald Trump could be the next US President to be assassinated. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk the GMB presenter opened up on his concerns for the President’s life.

Mr Morgan told this website President Trump is inundated with death threats on a regular basis.

He said: “There have been more threats to Trump than there have been in political history, I know there are.

“After Madonna said she wanted to blow up the White House there was a record number of threats on the President.

“Words have consequences.”

It comes after the journalist detailed his concerns for President Trump’s life in his new book, ‘Wake Up’.

When discussing the criticism President Trump faces, Mr Morgan wrote: “This raging intolerance has manifested itself in a very dangerous manner, with direct inferences that Trump should be assassinated.

“Four sitting presidents – one in 12 of the 45 men who have held the office – have actually been murdered.

“I remain very concerned that Trump may become the fifth, such is the viciously violent vitriol aimed his way by those who should know better.”

Indeed in the first six months of his Presidency, Mr Trump received about six to eight death threats a day, according to the director to the US Secret Service.

The threats included emails, social media postings and someone reporting a suspicious statement, US Secret Service Director Randolph Alles said.

In 2018, arrests for violent threats against high-profile US politicians soared.

There were 23 prosecutions for threats against Mr Trump or those in the presidential line of succession in 2018, a 130 percent increase over 2017, when there were 10, according to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC).

After the President was diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this month, dozens of social media users and some high profile commentators genuinely wished Trump dead.

Verified user Michael Bonfiglio posted on Twitter: “I hope Trump’s diagnosis wakes his supporters up to the reality of the pandemic and also that it makes him suffer and die.”

Dozens of others continued in a similar vein, with vile trolls hoping the President failed to recover from the virus.
