ROB COUHIG: If clubs don't get money in the next few weeks there will be blood on streets

I spent about two and a half years looking at a bunch of EFL clubs before I purchased Wycombe, and it wasn’t a surprise for me to see Bury go under and the problems at Macclesfield, or even at Bolton.

Into crisis come opportunity, and in this instance it is the chance to create a lasting stability for English football that has not existed, probably in a generation.

It will enhance all revenues, and put in cost-controls that are truly important if clubs are to get away from the current lottery system.

I don’t see anything in it to create a problem to stop Wycombe and similar clubs surviving and thriving.

It will give us an opportunity for major infrastructure repair to our stadium that we intended to do but will be able to do it in a better way.

And there’s a sense of relief if we can get it done relatively quickly.

A lot of EFL clubs need money today, and if they don’t get money in the next several weeks there will be blood on streets.

Something needs to be done, or institutions that have existed in England for over a hundred years will not exist.

That’s the hard reality of it and I don’t know of an alternative. It will give people the lifeline they need.

I am totally in favour if these details pan out the way I expect they will.
