One Direction: Niall Horan announces SURPRISE return gig for heartwarming cause

One Direction would not have been as large and successful as they were without the ability to tour the world, and put on live concerts. At the time of the band’s split, the five members were reportedly worth a combined $340 million. The former members’ solo careers would similarly not be as large as they are without their gigs, which hit a road block this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Niall Horan released his second album, Heartbreak Weather, in March of this year, although he was not being able to do any real promotional work for it, and being forced to cancel his tour.

Despite this the album, Heartbreak Weather the album, reached number one on the album charts in Ireland, and the UK.

It also debuted at number four in the US Billboard 200, with sales of more than 59,000.

Fans have not been able to see Horan’s newest songs live in concert just yet.

With this in mind, the Irish star has now announced he will be holding a one-off virtual gig at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Nice To Meet Ya singer made the announcement earlier this week on his Twitter account, where he wrote: “I’m sooo happy to share that I’ll be playing a special one-off livestream show from London’s legendary @RoyalAlbertHall on Nov 7!”

The 27-year-old added: “All profits will be shared between my touring crew and the #weneedcrew relief fund. Tickets go on sale this Friday Oct 16.”

In an interview with the BBC Horan explained he was holding this gig for his crew because of the ongoing pandemic, which has seen members of the arts industry without pay, and without jobs.

He said: “My stage manager is working on a building site currently, a couple of lads are working in Tesco and Sainsbury’s.”

The Slow Hands singer explained that if he managed to sell between 60,000 and 70,000 tickets he would earn enough to “pay all his crew”.

He added that the gig for the crew was “the least he could do”.

Horan isn’t the only former member of One Direction releasing new content for fans.

Earlier this week it was announced Harry Styles is rereleasing his platinum-selling album, Fine Line, in a special edition box set.

The box set, titled Harry Styles Fine Line 1 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set, also has some collectibles.

As well as the album on two LPs, the set includes some glossy prints of Styles, and a large 24 page lyric magazine.

The collection can also be easily handled with care, as the box also has a pair of white cotton gloves accompanying the goodies.

Tickets for Niall Horan’s Royal Albert Hall show will be released Friday, the gig will take place November 7, 2020. Tickets can be bought here.
