Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che hilariously discussed his Weekend Update cohost Colin Jost’s upcoming wedding to fiancée Scarlett Johansson.

During an appearance on Monday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 62-year-old talk show host asked the stand-up comedian, 37, whether he’ll score an invite to the engaged couple’s nuptials.

‘I hope so, not if they want it to go over smoothly,’ Che quipped. ‘But if not, I would love to go and just disrupt everything, you know.’

He jokingly added: ‘I think they’ll let me in because they feel like they have to. And I think that’s going to be a big mistake.’

Meanwhile, DeGeneres, who came under fire for presiding over a historically toxic work environment over the summer, gushed she would ‘love to be invited as well.’

Che replied he thought it would be ‘awesome’ if DeGeneres could be his ‘plus one.’

After news broke Jost, 38, had popped the question to the five-time Golden Globe winner, 35, in 2019, Che shared an equally cheeky congratulatory message.

‘One of us is marrying a movie star. The other is gonna get too drunk and ruin that reception,’ he captioned a throwback shot of himself and his pal via Instagram Story.

Scarlett and her man have been engaged for a year now, but have had to postpone their wedding due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

‘This is not the time to get all your elderly, at-risk relatives together in one big group,’ Jost recently told Andy Cohen. ‘I don’t know when that moment will be.’

Colin and Scarlett started dating in 2017, but the couple first crossed paths in 2006, when he was a writer on SNL, and she was hosting the show.

In his book A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir, Colin recalled his first impression of her.

'I remember her being beautiful, smart, sweet, and intimidatingly sophisticated,' Jost wrote in his new book, hailing the A-list actress for having 'a grace and a smile that I've still never seen in any other human' (pictured in 2019)

He noted: ‘She claims that she remembers thinking I was ‘cute,’ but I know what I looked like and that’s not the word I would have used. (‘Shaggy’ would have been generous. ‘Slovenly,’ more accurate).’

While it was hard for him to recall the gist of the sketch, there was one moment that stuck out for Colin.

‘The only line I remember from the sketch is when Scarlett’s bratty character says, ‘This party is literally worse than the Holocaust.’ That was my Shakespearean sonnet for the woman I would one day fall in love with,’ he wrote.

‘I’ve met someone I love and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before. I feel more confident committing to what I’m working on and standing by whatever I create, regardless of whether people like it or not.’
