Ouch! NFL network suspends star analyst Ian Rapoport for advertising a Manscaped pubic hair trimmer on social media without permission from his bosses

  • NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has been suspended until October 22
  • According to the New York Post, bosses were livid that the star had advertised a Manscaped grooming product on his social media channels
  • Rapoport did not ask NFL Network executives for permission to advertise the genital hair trimmer, violating the terms of his contract

NFL Network analyst Ian Rapoport has been suspended for advertising a manscaping product without seeking permission from his cable network bosses.

The 40-year-old commentator, who has worked for the NFL Network since 2012, confirmed his suspension in a Twitter post on Friday night.

‘Recently, I posted something to my social media channels without clearance from the NFL Network, which went against its guidelines. As a result, I will be off-air until October 22. I respect and understand the decision made by the network and am deeply sorry for my mistake,’ Rapoport wrote.

On Saturday, the New York Post confirmed that that the suspension was directly related to Rapoport advertising a Manscaped Lawn Mower electric trimmer on Twitter.

Rapoport spruiked the men’s product – designed to shave and trim pubic hair – in a video post shared late last month, according to The Big Lead.

During short clip, which has since been scrubbed from the internet, Rapoport exclaimed that the Manscaped Lawn Mower products were ‘the perfect tools, for your family jewels.’

He also exclaimed: ‘There’s LED lights, so you can see everything that’s going on down there!’

Rapoport even claimed that he locked the product up in a drawer, so that his wife, Leah, wouldn’t be tempted to steal it.

The Big Lead reports that the NFL Network was not perturbed about the type of product Rapoport had spruiked.

Indeed, earlier this year, the San Francisco 49ers announced an exclusive multi-year deal with Manscaped to advertise their range of genital hair trimmers and shavers.

The NFL Network simply said to be annoyed about the fact Rapoport did the advertisement without first gaining clearance – a clear violation of his contract.

Social media was divided by the star’s two-week suspension.

Beyond an overreaction. Ridiculous in every way,’ one wrote. ‘Here’s hoping a network that’s not “owned” by the NFL picks this guy up. He brings them so much credibility.’

However, another stated: ‘In my profession, you can get fired if you do get approval for supplemental employment. I don’t think it’s uncommon. Know your employers rules. Stupid, but it is what it is, especially when you represent a billion dollar entity.’
