F1 qualifying live: Latest updates from Eifel Grand Prix at the Nurburgring

F1 QUALIFYING LIVE: Latest updates from Eifel Grand Prix as Mercedes’ pair Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas look to take 1-2 at the Nurburgring

Lewis Hamilton will be looking to put his two previous penalty disappointments behind him by claiming pole position for the Eifel Grand Prix this weekend.

Last month, Hamilton was handed two five-second penalties during the Russian Grand Prix after performing practice starts at an incorrect location which saw him concede his lead in the race to Valterri Bottas before finishing third.

Max Verstappen, who split the Mercedes duo to finish second, will be out to spoil Hamilton’s race once again as the Brit aims to equal Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 race victories.

Low fog saw first and second practice cancelled yesterday over safety concerns, leaving drivers with just today’s practice session and qualifying to get used to the track – with Formula One returning to the Nurburgring for the first time since 2013.
