Talks between Bayern Munich and Chelsea over starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi have now reached a ‘decisive stage’, according to reports.

The Bundesliga champions have reignited their long-standing interest in the 19-year-old with just days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, having seen several attempted moves collapse last season.

And after negotiations between the two clubs began again in recent days, Sport Bild claim that a crucial juncture has been reached to thrash out Hudson-Odoi’s season-long loan.

Bayern had fallen short in their offers for the England international in the summer and winter markets last year but have returned with a new proposed swoop.

Hudson-Odoi has dropped down the pecking order under Frank Lampard after the arrival of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech – and it is expected that his game time will be notably reduced.

The youngster has struggled for regular action since recovering from a serious Achilles injury suffered last April, and made 22 Premier League appearances during the previous campaign. Just seven of those came as a starter, however.

After Bayern admitted defeat in the race to sign Hudson-Odoi, the Chelsea man had penned a new long-term contract to put an end to fervent speculation over his future.

The latest advances from the Champions League winners may now see the Blues’ academy product depart regardless.

In a bid to impress Lampard, meanwhile, Hudson-Odoi reportedly hired a £1,500-a-month trainer and a private pitch in an attempt to improve his fitness.

The Sun wrote that the Chelsea boss has repeatedly demanded Hudson-Odoi to sharpen up his work ethic.

Hudson-Odoi has made 65 senior appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and registering 11 assists.
