  • Manchester United have been disappointing in the transfer market so far
  • Old Trafford club are chasing another attacker with window closing on Monday
  • Ousmane Dembele is one such player but Barcelona want them to pay full wage

Manchester United will have to pay Ousmane Dembele’s full £215,000-a-week wage if they want to sign him on loan from Barcelona.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been trying to recruit the exciting 23-year-old winger from the Catalan club as an alternative to long-term target Jadon Sancho.

But they’ve been dealt a blow in that Barcelona are unwilling to accept anything less that United paying 100 per cent of the player’s wage, according to the Sun.

Ronald Koeman is keen to offload the winger on a permanent basis as his side need to raise funds for transfers.

But United are reluctant to do so, especially given question marks over Dembele’s attitude and poor injury record since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund.

This could mean that Solskjaer’s pursuit of another attacking talent to add to his squad goes right up until deadline day.

The transfer window, which was extended due to the coronavirus crisis, will close on Monday.

Dembele is looking to revive his career having failed to fulfill his promise at Barcelona and two hamstring injuries curtailed his progress last season.

United have pursued Sancho as their primary target for much of the summer and start of the season but Dortmund are holding firm in their valuation.

The Old Trafford club previously offered £70million rising to £100m but Dortmund want more money for the England international up front.
