Andrea McLean's 'world fell apart' backstage at ITV's Loose Women after being 'called out'

Andrea McLean has been a firm fixture on the Loose Women panel for the past 13 years. The ITV favourite has now spoken out about the moment her “world fell apart”, just moments before she was due to go on-air.

The 50-year-old presenter revealed that when she was “called out” by her ITV colleague and friend backstage, it changed her life dramatically.

The candid admission comes as the presenter embarks on a book tour for her latest offering, This Girl Is On Fire.

The autobiography delves into her personal experiences with recovery after she suffered a breakdown.

Speaking with Chris Evans this morning, the Loose Women panellist opened up about the time her colleague pulled her to one side and left her crying “tears of humiliation”.

“Donna said, ‘Can I have a quick word?”

“She pulled me into my dressing room and she just went, ‘Stop. Whatever it is you think you’re doing stop.

“‘You are running yourself ragged. You are trying to be all things to all people and I can see it. You are literally spinning yourself down and down and down. It’s not working and I’m really worried about you. Stop.'”

The small-screen star admitted she was overcome with emotion following their conversation and it was in that moment she knew things had to change.

Andrea mused: “You know that moment where you think you’ve been holding it altogether.

“You think you’ve been coping and then someone’s nice to you. It was like my whole world fell apart.”

The ITV favourite continued: “How I describe it in the book, it was tears of humiliation and relief.
