House prices jump by 5 percent – is now a good time to buy or sell a house?

The rise in prices has prompted the question for many of those surveying the market whether now is a good time to buy or not.

The Stamp Duty holiday, announced in July, has worked wonders in convincing people to move, allowing for a saving of up to £15,000.

The unprecedented change in the market has stemmed mostly from behavioral changes, particularly with those in cities having reassessed their preference for cosmopolitan life, which became much less appealing during the lockdown period.

According to a Nationwide survey, a third of those moving were looking to change areas completely and one in three were looking for a home with outside space.

Despite the bounce back, property experts have differing view over whether now is a good time to sell or buy a home.
