And although lockdown has been lifted in much of the country, Professor Winston believes the NHS Track and Trace app launched last week may lead to further isolation.

He said: “I would say that Track and Trace as it stands at the moment is not wholly successful, but actually Track and Trace actually also carries a big issue for children.

“Actually, that means that if you are in contact with the virus, you are required to isolate, so you actually end up with this isolation.”

Commenting on the survey, which questioned 5,000 parents across the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands, Steve Wilson, UK and Ireland Director at NortonLifeLock warned this threat is growing.
