Brexit domino effect: EU braced for bombshell France exit as plot emerges

French politician Charles-Henri Gallois has launched a new campaign, inspired by both the Brexit Party and Vote Leave. Mr Gallois wants France to “reprenons le controle”, which roughly translates to take back control, and leave the EU through a referendum. Brexit Party colours and fonts are used in his new campaign named Generation Frexit.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the prominent French eurosceptic said: “For me, the British Brexit campaign was incredible.

“It was a war for European nations to take back control.

“What we want to do is help the French secure a referendum on our country’s membership of the European Union – and to advocate for Frexit during this referendum.”

Mr Gallois is currently talking to different political parties and hopes to form a coalition that will ultimately push for a referendum after the next French presidential election.

When asked whether Mr Farage will help him with his crusade, Mr Gallois said there will definitely be cooperation with the Brexit Party leader.

He explained: “I know the Brexit Party very well.

“I am good friends with Alexandra Philipps, the former MEP. I have met Nigel Farage.

“In fact, I was with him in London to celebrate Brexit on January 31.”

Mr Gallois added: “I think he [Mr Farage] will help.

“We will be the other reality of the Europe

“We have done European cooperation before the EU and we will do it after.

JUST IN: Boris Johnson could QUIT as Prime Minister: ‘He is hating it!’

“I think if we walk together with the Brexit Party and Gianluigi Paragone, the leader of the Italexit movement, we will show people that there is another Europe that is possible.

“Not a supranational state.”

Mr Gallois believes Mr Macron and the EU are damaging France, particularly after the French President spearheaded the EU Recovery Fund at the end of July.

He added: “The recovery fund will be truly catastrophic for France.

“We will basically end up paying so much more than what we receive.

“And as a consequence, there will be so much more pressure to adopt EU social policies, such as the pension reform.

“Really, it is a total disaster. And all the mainstream media in France are saying it is historic and wonderful, but they don’t explain the real cost.

“All they are doing is this propaganda as if it is free money, but the citizens of France will foot the bill.

“Just like for the European budget.”

He noted: “I can understand why Germany is willing to pay a bit more.

“They have an interest in keeping the Common Market.

“It is beneficial for them.

“But for France and Italy… it makes no sense.

“Italy has more return for this recovery fund, but for the budget, it is the same thing.

“They also pay much more than what they receive.”

When asked what the EU should have done instead, Mr Gallois claimed individual member states should have come up with their own recovery plans.
