In June 1966, NASA sent its 13th crewed mission into space as part of the Gemini 9A mission. The crew was tasked with docking with another vehicle in Earth’s orbit. However, NASA may have got more than it bargained for in the mission as conspiracy theorists believe they can see proof of aliens in images from the mission.
Alien enthusiasts claim there is a UFO seen near to the Gemini rocket in an image from the mission.
The object in question looks like a flat surface with ridges in it which is outside the window.
Prominent UFO enthusiast Scott C Waring made the claim, stating NASA cannot “explain this one”.
Mr Waring wrote on his blog UFO Sightings Daily: “This photo is from the Gemini 9A mission. There is an unidentified flying object moving past one frame.
“The object has spiky sides and is slightly blurred which means it was travelling fast and moved slightly when the photo was taken.
“I only saw it in one frame, but its kind of strange looking and seem not too far away from the Gemini rocket and module.
“Very odd and definitely not a NASA spacecraft. I would like NASA to try to explain this one.”
However, there are several logical explanations which could be attributed to the apparent UFO.

He said: “I found a long golden cylinder UFO in an old Gemini 3 mission photo.
“The mission went into low Earth orbit and was the ninth manned space mission. UFOs come in all shapes and sizes.
“This one is caught in only a single photo. I checked the photos before and after this one and the object was gone.
“So this UFO must have been an accident caught in the photo as it shot past. It’s only natural for aliens to be curious about a species that have is still learning to go into space.”
