Liverpool in Ismaila Sarr transfer talks with '£36m fee agreed' despite Diogo Jota signing

Liverpool are currently negotiating wages with Ismaila Sarr after reaching an agreement with Watford according to reports in France. The Reds have been tracking the Senegal international ever since he arrived in the Premier League and could now offer him a return to the top flight.

Sarr joined Watford last summer from Rennes for a club-record fee of £30million.

His fine form could not help keep the Hornets afloat and they were relegated on the final day of the season following a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

It soon became clear that Sarr was one of the players who was unlikely to be part of their Championship promotion push.

While he is open to staying put, Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton and Crystal Palace have all been linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

According to France Football, it’s the Premier League champions who have made the breakthrough and agreed a deal worth between £32million and £36m for the jet-heeled winger.

Many expected Liverpool to cool their interest in Sarr following the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves last weekend.

But it now appears that they’re ready to bring him to Anfield to bolster their depth in attack behind first-choice attacking trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

His arrival would leave the futures of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson in huge doubt.

Liverpool are already willing to listen to offers for the three players but they are yet to receive any official bids.

Sarr downed Liverpool with a double for Watford in their 3-0 win over the Reds at Vicarage Road in February.

It was Klopp’s first defeat of the Premier League season and saw their Invincible hopes go up in smoke.

Earlier this summer, Sarr made it clear he would be open to joining Liverpool where he could team up with ‘big brother’ Mane.
