Emmerdale spoilers: Lydia Hart suffers life-changing news as she awaits test results

Emmerdale fans have had their fingers crossed for Lydia Hart (played by Karen Blick) over the past few months after she finally mustered up the courage to undergo the Huntington’s Disease test. In a storyline that saw the ITV soap explore her family background a little more, she found out that she could have inherited the progressive brain disorder from her late father.

Since she took the test earlier this year, it’s been an intense waiting game for the Dingles as they eagerly await the results.

And in coming episodes, the big day is soon to arrive.

With all that’s going on between Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), Jamie Tate (Andrew Lincoln), Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), Lydia’s mind has been elsewhere.

But her world could be turned upside down if the results come back with life-changing news.

Stated on the NHS website, the disease turns fatal after a period of up to 20 years, and people suffering with the condition at later stages will require full-time nursing.

Symptoms include difficulty moving, difficulty concentrating and memory lapses, depression and personality changes.

It could be any day now that the important letter arrives in the post and Lydia is on edge.

Could she be set for a tragic ending as she is confronted with the truth?

Elsewhere in the village, more trouble is on the horizon for Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson) as Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) could make a surprise return to the Dales.

She was last seen five years ago after being introduced in 2010, and her time on the ITV soap was nothing but a whirlwind of mayhem.

She featured in several high profile storylines during her time, including her horrific rape ordeal with Lachlan White (Thomas Atkinson) and breaking the news to son Jacob Gallagher (Joe Warren-Plant) that Leyla was actually his mother, after she had an affair with her sister’s husband.

Getting her own back, she and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) started up a relationship after he and Leyla broke, which only fuelled the on-going rivalry between the two siblings.
