Ozark's Laura Linney shares hilarious swipe following Netflix series Emmy snub '17 losers'

Ozark fans were overjoyed earlier this year when the Netflix crime drama racked up an impressive 18 Emmy nominations for its action-packed third season. While some were sad actor Tom Pelphrey, who played Ben Davis, was omitted from the Best Supporting Actor category, there was still high hopes the series would bring home a number of gongs, especially Laura Linney in the Best Lead Actress category for her portrayal of Wendy Byrde. However, Ozark’s sole win of the evening went to Julia Garner for the role of Ruth Langmore in the Best Supporting Actress group.

The most notable winners from this year’s Emmys went to Canadian comedy Schitt’s Creek and HBO’s Succession, which both swept up in a number of sought after categories.

Schitt’s Creek took home a record nine wins for a comedy while Succession bagged Best Drama series and Best Actor for its lead Jeremy Strong.

Ozark’s sole win of the evening went to Garner for her flawless portrayal of Ruth, a character who she’s played from the second-ever episode of the hit drama.

And while this meant Linney missed out on the Best Actress gong, the star had a hilarious reaction to the snub in 17 categories.

Not dwelling on missing out on the award too much, Linney shared a photo in her personalised ‘vote’ suit.

Taking a swipe at the results penned to 182k Instagram followers: “I’ve never been more proud of one beautiful winner and 17 losers in my life!

“Thank you @csiriano for my beautiful VOTE suit. Thank you Susan Reilly Lehane and Anne Marie Bradley for cleaning me up!

“Happy Emmy’s everybody! #ozark #christianSiriano @susanreillylehane @annemariebradley #juliagarner #emmys2020 @netflix.”

A second agreed: “I loveeeeeeed your performance in Ozark this season, I mean every season but the growth end deep in your character has definitely blow this year. I soooo wanted you to win, happy emmys.” (sic)

“For me you will always be the winner,” commented a third.

“I LOVE you in OZARK you are a winner,” said a fourth while Linney’s co-star and on-screen son Skylar Gaertner even responded: “You’re a winner to me.”

Linney missed out on the Best Drama Actress win to Euphoria star Zendaya, who became the youngest star to take home the award.

Zendaya saw off the likes of Linney, Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, The Crown star Olivia Colman and lead of Apple’s The Morning Show, Jennifer Aniston.

Linney did congratulate Zendaya on the historic win as well, even though it meant her missing out.

“Congratulations, @Zendaya!!!!!!” Linney began in a separate post.

She added: “Made my heart grow watching you surrounded by such love. [love heart emoji].”

Ozark seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix now.
