Lucifer season 5B theories: Lucifer to be unveiled as God's favourite son – here's why

The fifth season of Lucifer featured plenty of surprises, not least of which was the sudden arrival of the Lord of Creation, God (played by Dennis Haysbert), in the last moments of the midseason finale.

After abandoning hell to pay a visit to Chloe Decker (Lauren German), Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) was forced to stick around on Earth to handle the nefarious schemes of his twin brother, Michael.

Meanwhile, Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and Linda (Rachael Harris) dealt with their part-celestial new baby, and Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) struggled to find her place in the world.

Things all came to a head in episode eight, Spoiler Alert, which wrapped up season five, part one with an all-out brawl in the middle of the Los Angeles police precinct.

Even if Lucifer manages to clip Michael’s wings when the series continues, the surprise appearance of God is sure to have major ramifications.

Plus, now a sixth season of Lucifer is confirmed to be in the works, the ‘Lucifans’ community has been letting their imaginations run wild trying to guess how the devil’s extended vacation will come to an end.

Some viewers took to Reddit after spotting a huge clue from the second season which could point to how Lucifer’s reunion with his father could unfold.

As one fan explained: “I think it is possible that Lucifer is the favorite son, or perhaps he and Amenadiel are both the favorite.”

Moreover, a major reveal in the first half of season five has confirmed Lucifer’s signature ring holds even more significance than previously thought.

Although Lucifer has mentioned the ring holds emotional value in the past, the audience finally discovered it was a gift from Mazikeen’s mother, Lilith (also Lesley-Ann Brandt).

The same fan proposed this ring could be the final piece of the puzzle for Lucifer to discover his true path and fulfil his destiny.

They continued: “It has been confirmed the ring has a stone from Eden, and it’s possible the sword can only be activated in its presence.”

“It is thus possible that God intentionally set a chain of events in motion for Lucifer to obtain the ring.

“From these points, we can deduce that there is a non-zero chance that Lucifer both has a ‘final piece’ of the sword, and is a favored son.”

Dennis Haysbert’s highly anticipated portrayal of God is set to play a major role in the second half of Lucifer season five, so fans have their fingers crossed all will be revealed soon.
