Newcastle are closing on a £250,000 deal for highly-rated Peru playmaker Rodrigo Vilca from Deportivo Municipal.
The 21-year-old could be loaned out initially for experience.
The midfielder is regarded as a promising talent and has been called up to the national squad by coach Ricardo Gareca.
