PS5 Showcase: What UK gamers can expect alongside PlayStation 5 price reveal

The PS5 Showcase is being held at a perfect time for gamers in the UK to tune in and watch on the platform of their choice.

Livestreams will be available on Youtube and Twitch, and big viewing numbers are expected when it goes live at 9pm BST.

One of the reasons behind this is that there are a lot of PS4 owners who want to see Sony’s final release plans for the PlayStation 5.

That means spilling the beans on the PS5 price and release date, with both details expected to be touched upon during the 40-minute show.

Recent rumours suggest that the PlayStation 5 price will be set at under $500 for at least one of the consoles.

The good news is that Sony should clear everything up today, with perhaps even a few pre-order surprises thrown in too.

Away from the big PS5 price and release date details, and Sony are going to have plenty of time to talk about other projects.

And this would also be the perfect chance to reveal some of those big PS5 exclusives that will be coming in 2020 and beyond.

This could include any number of games and will be entirely dependent on how Sony sees this PS5 Showcase.

If they believe that the price and release date should be the big talking points, we might miss out on major PlayStation game announcements.

However, if Sony is wanting to put out a strong showing and try to impress gamers, we could see some top stuff.

Think back to E3 2015 when gamers got a first look at a number of exciting projects, such as Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue, The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn, and that would certainly make a splash.

There’s plenty of candidates, with fans hoping for some kind of shock Silent Hills announcement during proceedings.

While anything is possible, it’s much more likely we will find out about popular first-party exclusives making the jump.

This could include games like The Last of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima, as well as sequels like God of War 2, or Days Gone 2.

Factions Mode, the multiplayer version of The Last of Us Part 2, could also make an appearance, although its existence has already been confirmed.

Third-party games could also be lining up to be showcased on the PS5, including things from the Final Fantasy 16, Red Dead Redemption, and Battlefield franchises.

Battlefield 6 has yet to be revealed and this would be the perfect time to show off what’s coming next.

Final Fantasy 16 is also rumoured to be in the works and could be another game to help push emphasis on the PS5.

Here’s what Sony has said so far about its big PS5 Showcase being held today, telling gamers earlier this week:

“Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!).

“Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.

“Tune in live on Twitch or YouTube this Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s next for PS5.”
