Passion of the Christ 2: Jesus star on Resurrection sequel ‘BIGGEST film in world history’

Back in 2004, Mel Gibson’s violent biblical epic stormed the box office taking over $622 million worldwide. And as teased for several years now, a Passion of the Christ 2 is on the way. The sequel is set after the crucifixion when The Bible says Jesus rose from the grave, having died for the sins of the world.

Now the original film’s Jesus Christ star Jim Caviezel, a devout Christian himself, has shared an update on the Passion of the Christ 2.

Speaking with Alex Marlow on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily, the 51-year-old actor revealed that he’s been reading a new version of the script.

Caviezel said: “Mel Gibson just sent me the third picture, the third draft.

“It’s coming. It’s called The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.”

The screenwriter added: “My major focus of study was the resurrection.

“That is the Mount Everest of movies and we are in discussions about it a lot.

“It’s a highly-charged one, so we keep our cards close to our chest.”

Of course, recent anti-semitic allegations from Winona Ryder against Mel Gibson over the summer could put Passion of the Christ 2’s future in jeopardy.

However, Gibson strongly denies that he made anti-semitic remarks to her, with his representatives saying they were “100 per cent untrue.”

Nevertheless, the claims could still affect his future projects if studios, actors and crews are unwilling to work with the star.

Then again, with Caviezel’s latest update, it sounds like Gibson has every intention of making Passion of the Christ 2.

The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection’s release date is TBC.
