‘Hi guys, delighted to say that I have signed a new deal with Aston Villa,’ Grealish said in the post.

‘It is my club, my home and I am very happy here,’ he added.

‘We are determined to build a top team around him and are delighted he is extending his contract and committing himself to the club he loves,’ Villa chief executive Christian Purslow said.

Having seen a move for Jadon Sancho stall, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to bring in Grealish, but Villa would have demanded £80million for him.

But now the attacking midfielder, who made his first appearance for England against Denmark last week, will extend his stay at his hometown club, which he has played for since he was eight-years-old.

Grealish went on to make his debut in the 2013-14 season, going on to make 186 appearances since, scoring 25 goals.

But Grealish has now extended his stay at his boyhood club having made his debut in 2013-14
