New Apple iPad could launch tomorrow and we really hope it looks this good

If you love all things Apple then there’s a big 24-hours ahead with the US firm set to lift the lid on a swathe of shiny new gadgets. Apple sent out invitations to media last week which confirmed an online-only event will be taking place tomorrow, September 15. As with all Apple events the firm has hinted what could be announced with the words “Time flies” splashed across the front of the invite.

As you might have guessed, this has got many speculating that the main theme of the keynote will be all about the Apple Watch but rumours are also rife that Apple is about to refresh one of its most popular tablets and in a very big way.

Although not confirmed, it seems the famous iPad Air could be ready for a dramatic reboot with this device possibly getting a totally new look, more power and a bunch of extra features.

In fact, this new device could finally get the update we’ve all been waiting for with a screen that pushes right to the edge of the tablet – similar to the more premium iPad Pro.

To add fuel to this rumour, a recent post from the team at 9to5mac (via Duan Rui) even claims to show an official instruction manual for the 2020 iPad Air with images revealing a device that’s free from the usual chunky bezels and circular Home Button with Touch ID sensor that graces the current variant.

Other rumours about the 2020 Air include a faster processor, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, updated single-lens rear camera and an easy way to connect accessories such as a smart keyboard.

For those that enjoy a doddle on the display it also appears that Apple will support its second-generation Apple Pencil stylus.

That’s a big upgrade over the current Air which only supports the older and stylus which can’t be charged wirelessly or offer quite the same writing and drawing experience as the latest digital pen.

What could really make this new iPad a winner is if Apple can produce it for around the same £479 price as the current Air model.

That would be a massive bargain and make it an attractive option for those wanting to upgrade.

Luckily, there’s not too long until we find out full details with Apple’s big keynote taking place at 6pm tomorrow evening.
