Neymar red card: PSG superstar sent off for slapping opponent as five players see red

Neymar was shown red alongside four others as PSG vs Marseille ended in ugly scenes. In a game that threatened to boil over from minute one, it was the visitors who frustrated the Champions League runners up from the get-go after taking the lead through former Newcastle attacker Florian Thauvin.

Marseille thought they had made it 2-0 through Dario Benedetto but the linesman’s flag saved the day for PSG.

As Andre Villas-Boas’ side ran down the clock, the hosts couldn’t help but lose their cool.

Neymar was involved in a constant spat with Alvaro Gonzalez. The Spaniard appeared to have his number as the pair squared off.

The pair then came head-to-head before the Brazilian clipped him round the back of the head.

It wasn’t spotted though by the referee, who was too busy engaged in the chaos that was unfolding around him.

Benedetto had made a meal of Leandro Paredes’ challenge, as the pair rolled around on the floor.

All hell then broke loose. Former Aston Villa full-back Jordan Amavi was then spotted kicking Layvin Kurzuwa as more handbags unfolded.

The referee was then supported by his assistants as he looked to regain control of the frenzy.
