Donald Trump promises 'animals will be hit hard' after two LA police officers were shot

The video shows a gunman approaching a stationary police vehicle in Los Angeles and opening fire on the two officers inside. The gunman then flees the scene. In response to the video the US president tweeted “Animals that must be hit hard”.

The shocking incident happened at 7 pm, US west coast time, on Saturday evening in the Compton area of Los Angeles.

The two deputies that were fired upon received multiple gunshot wound.

The officers were rushed to hospital were it has been reported they are “fighting for their lives”.

Police are searching for the whereabouts of the shooter.

The LA county sheriffs office Tweeted: “Moments ago, two of our Sheriff Deputies were shot in Compton and were transported to a local hospital.

“They are both still fighting for their lives, so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

“We will update this thread with information as it becomes available.

The sheriffs office added:”The gunman walked up on the deputies and opened fire without warning or provocation.”
