Not a lot of people know this, but I’m very good at… catching horses. My daughter has a pony, Storm, so when we go to get the horses in, they gallop towards us and I just stand there like a diva with my arms out and Gucci sunglasses and a fur jacket on. They stop for me because they can tell I’m a diva.

My best friend is… I don’t want to say my daughter, it’s just such a cheesy answer. But my best friend is still my daughter even though she’s about to go into secondary school, so I’m prepared for that to change.

My nickname is… Kathbum. My mother has been calling me Kathbum since I was little and that’s my handle on my Instagram. It doesn’t really make sense as a handle – people think it’s explicit, but it’s just what my mother always called me.

The bravest thing I’ve ever done was… a sex scene in The Duchess, which I will never be doing again in my life for any amount of money. I wasn’t even nude and the crew were very sensitive about how to film it, but this is how I realised I’m no thespian. It was hideous. I haven’t seen it – I refuse to watch it.

My favourite TV show is… 90 Day Fiancé. I wish I loved anything as much as I love this show. I feel like it’s got everything, it’s about romance but also about vulnerability and poor decision making. I’m captivated by it. It’s a reality show and a lot of people think it’s trash. My husband refuses to watch reality with me.

My perfect evening is… going to the pub and then watching something on TV. Just the three of us and our dogs.

My first kiss was… with my husband when we were 15. We were at a basketball game in high school and I decided that I liked him so my friend announced to him that he would be my boyfriend until further notice, which he agreed to. There was a house party after the game. The school colours were red and black and we were the Northern Vikings. He had his face painted half red and half black and we were kissing in a wardrobe at this party. I had face paint all over my face. We broke up for 20 years after that, he married someone else and I had a baby with someone else but we found each other again.

The best thing my parents taught me was… My mother always said, “If we all liked the same thing we’d all be married to your father.” That really taught me that almost everything is subjective and it’s wonderful that we’re different.

My biggest regret is… sacrificing any time while my daughter was little to go on dates with men who were not worthy of my time. That’s the theme in The Duchess, too. She’s a single mother and keeps her dating life at arm’s length. Why would I ever hire a babysitter to go have dinner with a stranger? I always would have had more fun staying home with my daughter.

I’d like to say sorry to… my enemies who will be having a terrible year when they see how well I’m doing.

The one thing I’d change about myself is… that I had more patience and that I could relinquish control. If something goes wrong, I can’t just sit with it. I have to have an active solution in motion and that is sometimes fruitless.

The last time I cried was… in Birmingham last week. When my daughter was really small she used to come on tour with me but last week I was without her and I was thinking about how we used to walk around the city centres looking for things to do. But she doesn’t do that with me any more, so I really treasure that and miss that, so I was crying thinking about it.

The first record I ever bought was… TLC’s CrazySexyCool.

It’s not good for my image, but I like… my husband. My image is being a powerful, single mum. In my last tour show it was all about how you don’t need a man and I was so passionate about getting that message out, so having a husband I really like is not on brand for me.

My greatest weakness is… breakfast wine. I don’t get drunk and I don’t like drinking at night but I like to have one for lunch or brunch.

If I could pass any law… I think the Prime Minister should earn the average salary of the nation.

I drive… a Range Rover Evoque.

The shop I can’t walk past is… a bakery. I really hate the smell of bread. I’m not allergic but the smell makes me heave.

The most expensive thing I’ve ever splashed out on is… my dog, Meghan. She’s a teacup shih-tzu and her eyes point in weird directions. I just wanted her and loved her. She was expensive and she’s so high-maintenance.

My favourite place in Britain is… I’m split. I love the New Forest and love going on holiday there. There’s this place with treehouses where we stay and go on country walks and enjoy pub lunches. But I also love gigging in Scotland. Glasgow is my favourite place – they had vegan food before anyone else, they’re really cosmopolitan and I love the attitude there.

My last holiday was… Mexico, right before lockdown hit. It was my mum’s 60th and she wanted to go away with all my sisters. They know I don’t want to go anywhere disgusting so I pay for everyone to go somewhere really nice. But I had terrible health issues and the hospital didn’t want me to travel, but my mum really wanted to do the trip so I went anyway and it was fine. I didn’t die, but I didn’t have fun either. They like the sun but I don’t, so I sat in the shade eating tacos.

I’m currently reading… Dolly Alderton’s new book, Ghosts. I love it – she’s wonderful.

The best day of my life was… You should say the day your child was born but it’s actually a terrible day because you’re in pain all day. I’ve had so many good days. I think progress is all about small victories so I don’t have one stand-out day.

If I had half an hour left on Earth, I’d… hang out with my daughter, follow her around and do what she wants to do. We’d put the phones away and just go on the trampoline and no one else would be invited.
