Naga Munchetty cuts off Lisa Nandy after Labour MP speaks over BBC host in Covid clash

“But that’s part of the frustration with the Government,” she continued.

“If people understand why they’re being asked to do things, largely, I think they’ll do them and that’s far more preferable than the police having to take a heavy-handed approach.”

Munchetty asked: “What do you think is more important, people gathering for Christmas traditionally as a family or sticking to groups of six and keeping everyone safe?”

“Well I think keeping people safe has to be the overwhelming priority and this is about individuals, it’s about your own family but it’s also about the fact that if we don’t have the right level of restrictions in place then the NHS could become overwhelmed,” Nandy answered.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
