Who is Colin Morgan?

Colin Morgan is a 34-year-old actor from Armagh, Northern Ireland.

In The Fall, Morgan played the role of Detective Sergeant Tom Anderson.

Fans of The Fall will most likely recognise Morgan from his role as Leo Elster in Humans.

In Humans, he starred alongside Sope Dirisu, Will Tudor, Jill Halfpenny and Neil Maskell.

Morgan is also well known for portraying the titular character in the BBC series Merlin.

He played the role of Merlin from 2008 until 2012, starring alongside Nathaniel Parker, Richard Wilson, Anthony Head and Katie McGrath.

Morgan is also well known for his role as Nathan Appleby in The Living and the Dead, starring alongside Charlotte Spencer.

Most recently, Morgan played the role of Guardian reporter John Armstrong in The Crown season three episode Bubbikins.

For his performance as Merlin, Morgan received Best Actor nominations at the Monte Carol TV Festival Awards and National Television Awards.

After graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2007,
Morgan began his career on the London Stage, appearing in productions of God Little, All About My Mother, A Prayer For My Daughter, The Tempest and Mojo.

Morgan will star in the upcoming film Genuine Fakes as British artist John Myatt, directed by Pat Holden.

Morgan joined the cast of The Fall for the show’s second season and reprised the role in the third and final outing.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Morgan revealed The Fall writer Allan Cubitt and lead actress Gillian Anderson met with him in London to discuss his role in the show.

He said: “When I watched series one I thought, ‘I’d love to be part of that’ so it was a huge honour when I met Allan and Gillian in London.

“It’s always nice when something like this happens. Expectations will not just be met but exceeded. Mine were when I read it.

“As a Northern Irish fella myself, when I think of a drama being based here, I think of something to do with the Troubles, but this is on a completely different level.

“This is a terrifying story of a sexual predator and that’s here!

“We’re used to being in the headlines but in a very different way. That’s what makes The Fall so engaging.”
