Will Rick Grimes star in The Walking Dead season 10 finale?

The Walking Dead fans have been bursting with excitement after they saw a cast photo posted on the show’s Twitter account.

Season 10 was put on hold ahead of the season finale due to the coronavirus outbreak, and ever since fans have been wondering whether the hero Rick Grimes will return.

He will already be featuring in his own set of films and may well get a mention in spin-off shows.

However, a photo showed Lincoln with his Walking Dead co-stars Cassady McClincy (Lydia) and Angel Theory (Kelly).

In the photo, Theory is in the middle with McClincy and Lincoln on either side.

The tweet said: “REALLY wishing we could have gotten scenes with Lydia, Kelly and Rick. Maybe someday.”

Fans were quick to suggest he would be returning to the series, with one saying: “So you’re saying Rick [is] returning after the movies? If so I would be hyped to see him return to the show if that’s the case.”

Another fan said: “Do you know something we don’t know.”

There is no indication of when the photo was taken, so it may have been before Lincoln left the series.

His character left in season nine after Rick sacrificed himself to save his friends by blowing up a bridge to stop walkers crossing.

One said on Twitter: “I hope we get this chance in the future.” Another said: “Please have Rick come back, this show honestly needs him.”

Thousands of people have liked the photo, but sadly there has been no mention of Rick officially returning.

Screenwriter Scott Gimple had revealed during Comic-Con @ Home that Lincoln still has a huge say in what happens in the series.

He said: “He throws around the football with the rest of us. He’s very, very interested in this thing.

“And I got to tell you, he’s itching to get back, too. We all are.”

With this in mind, there is a chance his character will return in one form or another.

The series will not be coming to an end after season 10, so there are plenty of opportunities for him to return.

In an interview for Talking Dead, he said: “I feel a great sense of relief and accomplishment and satisfaction.

“I spoke to Gail, my wife before I started season nine and she said finish in the same way you started but without the fear.

“Which I just thought was something to shoot for, and I think we got there. The fear was that I was an English actor wearing a Stetson. It was big boots to fill.”
