Hair loss can be a natural part of the ageing process, and most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. We can even lose up to 100 hairs on our bodies every day, without even noticing. But you could prolong the life of your locks by regularly using a caffeine shampoo, it’s been revealed.
Losing your hair could be caused by a number of different conditions, said the NHS.
Stress, weight loss, or even an iron deficiency can lead to some form of hair loss.
But there are some home treatments you can use that might help to prevent some types of hair loss, including alopecia.
Your choice of shampoo could have an influence on the growth of your hair, This Morning’s Dr Sara revealed.
“I think there are some [shampoos] that have evidence toward them [for preventing hair loss] – some less so,” she said.
“There was a paper done by the British Dermatology Journal.
“They found that there was a caffeine shampoo that has been shown to help stimulate hair growth, especially in those with a male pattern-type baldness.
“So there are evidence for them and it’s definitely worth trying.”
Your choice of diet could also play a role in boosting hair growth, she added.
Some people – particularly women – find that their hair loss is caused by an iron deficiency.
Iron is needed to deliver oxygen to various parts of the body – including hair follicles.
Without enough iron in your diet, the follicles may become starved of oxygen, which they need for growth and repair.
