Freddie Mercury: Did Freddie Mercury forget the words in Hammer to Fall at Live Aid 1985?

On listening closely, Freddie actually sang ‘you who blew up tall and proud.’

One fan, speaking on a Quora discussion of the song, suggests Freddie would occasionally make some spontaneous changes to the words of songs for fun, rather than due to error.

It is unclear, when it comes to this line, whether the change was intentional, in error or a mixture of the two, but it is clear the words were not so much forgotten as slightly changed, which is absolutely acceptable.

Despite these minor changes this is still considered one of the best live versions of the song, and one of Freddie’s most iconic moments.
