Ed Sheeran net worth: Shape of You Singer has whopping sum of money in bank

Ed Sheeran, 29, was born in Halifax on February 17, 1991 and was raised in Suffolk by his father who is an art curator and his mum who is a jewellery designer. Ed began singing at a local church choir at the age of four, learned how to play guitar at the age of 11 and began songwriting while studying at Thomas Mills High School. He also studied at Rishwith School, a private school charging around £10,350 a term to study there.

He then went onto release two albums over the course of the next three years and after gaining a small following, Ed began performing at small venues in and around London.

It wasn’t until five years later in 2010, when Ed was in LA and caught the attention of Jamie Foxx, who gave him a free recording space and a place to stay whilst he was there.

One year later he signed to the actor and singer’s record company and released his debut studio album. It reached number one in four countries and includes massive hits which are still regularly played on the radio today.

His second album was released in 2014 followed by his third, titled Divide, three years later after Ed took a social media break.

Divide hit number one in many countries across the globe and became the fastest-selling album by a male solo artist in the UK.

It was also the third fastest selling album in UK chart history following Adele and Oasis.

Trade publication Pollstar announced via the Daily Mail last year that Ed’s 260-show international tour has earned him an estimated $775.5million, this works out as £579million.

That was enough to become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, topping U2’s “360 Degrees” tour that took place back in 2008.

Ed told Pollstar: “I just found out the Divide tour is now the highest-grossing tour of all time, this is amazing!

“I feel very lucky to have experienced all of the wonderful countries and crowds over the past two and a half years. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made it possible.”

The star has also added to his fortune with some acting roles including his debut with a cameo role on New Zealand opera Shortland Street.

In 2015, he also starred in the Australian soap Home and Away.

The singer has also worked on advertisements for Heinz Tomato Ketchup which he has claimed to put on everything and now even has a Heinz Ketchup tattoo.

As well as being extremely successful in the music industry, Ed has also been smart with his money, investing his fortune in numerous properties across the UK.

This includes 19 properties across the country with 15 of those being in London.

The singer is thought to have spent a whopping £42million on property.

Ed is now married to his wife Cherry Seaborn and the couple welcomed their daughter Lyra today.
