SWAT teams reportedly swarmed on an LA apartment complex on Sunday afternoon, following reports of possible shots fired on a street where a large caravan of Trump supporters was passing through.

A woman driving past the caravan in Woodland Hills said she heard what sounded like gunshots around 11:30am local time and then noticed her tire was flat after being damaged by a projectile, possibly a bullet, LAPD said.

Another witness told police that they had seen a person with a firearm stood on the balcony of a nearby apartment building in the 20600 block of Ventura Boulevard.

Police say they later obtained a photo of a man holding a rifle on a balcony of the same apartment building. The kind of rifle he was holding wasn’t specified.

Tactical teams attempted to draw the alleged shooter and two others out from the apartment block at around 3:30pm after they reportedly barricaded themselves inside.

However, when police entered the unit at 4pm nobody was inside. Officers had launched a chemical irritant into the property to try and flush any occupants out, police said.

Officers locked down the building and evacuated nearby units, LAPD said. Detectives remain at the scene collecting evidence to help locate the suspects.

Only one of the three suspects is being sought as a potential shooter. The other two individuals were reportedly present inside the unit when the incident was reported.

Deputy Chief Jorge Rodriguez told the LA Times the LAPD is conducting a search warrant at the apartment and that men were seen fleeing the scene.

‘It was not a BB,’ Rodriguez said of the alleged gunfire. ‘It was possible a .22 caliber .25 caliber weapon based on the evidence at the car.’

LAPD previously said the initial calls reported that someone had been throwing bottles at passing vehicles and brandished a gun in the area of Ventura Boulevard and Chalk Hill. That call

A police helicopter circled overhead and authorities used a loudspeaker to tell residents to stay indoors, said Chantel Bonet, who lives in a townhouse at the complex in the Woodland Hills neighborhood.

‘I heard feet running in my building and I called 911. They told me to stay inside and keep the door locked,’ said Bonet, who was home with her kids, ages 10 and 12. ‘It was pretty scary.’

Dozens of cars and trucks, many with Trump banners, honked and shouted their support of the president as the caravan rolled through the San Fernando Valley. The event was mostly peaceful.

There were no reported injuries and the caravan continued on its planned route, police said. It’s still unclear whether any shots were fired.

A group of Black Lives Matter protesters had lined up on the opposing side of the street as the caravan moved through.

Though the groups shared some verbal exchanges, no physical violence was reported, according to the Times.

No further details were immediately available.

The apparent shooting comes just 24 hours after Patriot Prayer supporter Jay Bishop was shot dead during violent clashes between Trump supporters and Black Lives Matter protesters in Portland on Saturday night.

In disturbing, recorded by videographer Justin Dunlap, Bishop appears to be following two other people down a street before two gunshots ring out and a cloud of smoke erupts.

It remains unclear if the shooting at was linked to fights that broke out earlier as a caravan of about 600 vehicles was confronted by counter-demonstrators in the city’s downtown area.

Police said the caravan had left the area around 8.30pm, and officers heard gunshots around 15 minutes later and arrived at the shooting scene ‘within a minute’. Bishop was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

Detectives have yet to release any information about the shooting suspect and said they are still looking for more evidence.

Joey Gibson, founder and leader of Patriot Prayer, paid tribute to Bishop, pictured, writing: 'We love Jay and he had such a huge heart. God bless him and the life he lived'
