Zoom down: Server status latest, meeting login and connection error hits thousands

Zoom down reports are surging in right now with thousands of users of the video conferencing service experiencing issues today.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector has seen a huge spike in Zoom down reports with the vast majority of issues surrounding online connectivity problems.

Out of those affected some 74 per cent are experiencing meeting login problems while others are having issues with server connection and joining meetings.

Elsewhere there have been reports of Zoom users being hit with an error 100000502 message when they try to use the service.

According to the Down Detector outage map, the Zoom problems that have occured today are mainly affecting users in the US, UK and Europe.

The Zoom issues began around 1pm UK time today, with Down Detector at the time of writing receiving a peak of over 16,000 reports of Zoom down.

Thankfully though it looks like a fix is in the works for Zoom users across the globe, so hopefully they shouldn’t be experiencing issues with the service for much longer.

The official Zoom US Twitter account posted: “Thanks for hanging in there! We are deploying a fix now. Service should be restored for some users and we’re continuing to complete the fix for any users still impacted. We’re sorry about the disruption.”

As the Zoom issues hit users took to social networking site Twitter to report the issues they were facing with the service.

One tweeted: “zoom is down WORLDWIDE!!!!”

Another posted: “Zoom down pretty much everywhere #zoom #outage”.

One added: “Zoom is down? Beautiful. I’m going back to sleep”.

And another wrote: “Zoom is down, but I have an important meeting in 2 hours”.

The latest issues with Zoom come as it’s been revealed that the video conferencing service is finally getting support on a range of smart devices.

Gadgets such as the Amazon Echo Show, Google Next Hub Max and Facebook Portal will at last be getting Zoom support.

Facebook Portal is first to be getting Zoom support, with rollout for an app beginning in September.

While Amazon Echo Show users will be able to use Alexa to Zoom from late fall.
