Red Dead Redemption 2 update 1.23 out now: Patch notes latest for new Rockstar download

Red Dead Redemption 2 update 1.23 has just been released by Rockstar Games, with fans waiting to see full patch notes get released by the RDR2 makers.

The latest Red Dead Redemption 2 patch weighs in at around 1.2GB on PS4 and was released outside of the typical update window.

Usually Rockstar Games updates Red Dead Redemption 2 on a Tuesday.

The latest Red Dead Redemption 2 patch follows an update released earlier this month which caused widespread issues in the hit PS4, Xbox One and PC game.

The update in question was patch 1.21 which sparked a whole host of bizarre glitches such as disappearing animals, characters melting into the scenery and connection issues.

The patch caused so many issues with Red Dead Redemption 2 that Rockstar Games ended up reverting back to a previous version of the game.

Discussing the issues the RDR2 makers said: “An update to Red Dead Online intended to provide security improvements and address connection errors unintentionally introduced a range of issues including connection problems, low animal spawn counts, difficulty pitching Camps, entering Moonshine shacks as well as others on PS4 and Xbox One.

“We have reverted back to the previous version on those platforms, initially launched on July 28. This should address these recent issues and restore stability – meanwhile we will continue to work to eliminate any remaining issues through future updates.”

It’s believed that the latest update, which has been released today (Monday August 24), has not arrived on PCs yet – with only PS4 and Xbox One patches pushed out.

The news was revealed by the RDonlineNews Twitter account who posted: “Update: We’re not hearing reports of a PC update just yet. But if one releases, we’ll be sure to update this thread!

“As far as we know an update released on PS4 and Xbox One as of now.”
