All of the objects he pointed out in the photo are almost certainly nothing more than Martian rocks viewed through the effects of pareidolia.

This is a psychological phenomenon where the brains trick the eyes into seeing familiar objects or shapes in patterns or textures including, in this instance, a rocky surface.

Space agency NASA said: “Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon where people see recognisable shapes in clouds, rock formations, or otherwise unrelated objects or data.

“There are many examples of this phenomenon on Earth and in space.”
