Herrera was replaced by Julian Draxler with 20 minutes to go as Thomas Tuchel tried to chase the game, but PSG were unable to get the equaliser.

‘They knew how to win, and we also knew how to lose the game,’ said Herrera. ‘When you lose, you are f***** for a couple of days, but when you lose the way we lost, you can take a lot of things to make you stronger.’

When asked about playing the Champions League final inside an empty stadium, Herrera replied: ‘It’s s***, horrible. For me, fans are the key in this sport, they’re the most important thing in football.
