New trick makes Samsung 4K TVs, Galaxy phones, and Galaxy Buds more affordable

If you’ve got a few Samsung gadgets on your shopping list, there’s a trick to make things a little more affordable. Whether you’re buying a new Samsung 4K Smart TV to upgrade movie nights, a soundbar to boost your next boxset binge, a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone, a Galaxy Watch 3 to track your calories and sleep, a pair of Galaxy Buds Live, or a refrigerator …as long as the item you’re after is listed on the Samsung online store, it will work.

The trick arrives courtesy of the launch of the Samsung Pay Card. Announced some two months ago, the card has finally arrived in the UK. If you’re already familiar with Samsung Pay – which lets you use your Samsung Galaxy smartphone or smartwatch to tap-to-pay or tap-to-swipe on payment terminals worldwide – it’s essentially the same idea, but brings together all of your cards into a single digital option: the Samsung Pay Card.

The digital card itself is powered by digital banking platform Curve and boasts many of the same features. For example, you’re able to add multiple credit and debit cards onto the Samsung Pay Card (as long as they’re powered by Mastercard and Visa) – allowing you to cycle between them and tap-to-pay without rummaging in your wallet. If you like to pack light, the ability to leave home with a single card – stored digitally on your smartwatch or phone – and still have the entire contents of your purse with you is a big selling point.

But where the Samsung Pay Card really shines is when paying for goods from Samsung’s own online store. The company is currently offering a whopping five percent cashback on any products bought from its online store.

If you’ve been eyeing up one of the latest 65-inch Ultra HD QLED TVs from Samsung, starting from around £999, you could get a £50 discount – just for paying with your existing card inside the Samsung Pay Card. Not bad, eh?

You can expect a similarly generous discount when buying the new flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which costs £1,279 (a saving of roughly £64). And if you add a Galaxy Watch 3 or a pair of wireless AKG headphones to your basket at the same time, then the discount really starts to add up.

For 90 days, Samsung Pay Card holders will also be able to claim an instant one percent cashback from three merchants selected from a variety of brands.

The Samsung Pay Card offers a few other useful tools and features like “Go Back in Time”, which lets you cycle through a timeline of purchases and retroactively move transactions from one card to another. So, if you’ve put a few too many treats on your card card this month – you can shuffle one over to a debit card with a tap, or vice versa.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on the card, you’ll need to load up the Samsung Pay app on your smartphone and tap the Samsung Pay Card starter card and complete the registration process. And if you’ve reached this far into the article and decided you’re not much of a Samsung fan, a number of the same features – like the clever “Go Back In Time” functionality – are available with a Curve account, which doesn’t have any Samsung branding.
