Gemma went on to insist she is trying to accept that “you’ve got to let nature take its course” if anything has happened to the squirrel.

She added: “It’s just nature isn’t it? If anything’s happened you’ve got to let nature take its course. 

“As awful as that sounds, I’m one of them, I’ve had people messaging me saying, ‘Don’t feed the grey squirrels because they’re killing the red squirrels’.

“Or if I post about foxes, ‘Don’t help foxes, they eat squirrels and chickens… don’t feed magpies they eat the baby birds.’”
