Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards this week as Bungie reveal DCV plans

Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris is kicking off today and Bungie will be offering top rewards for stringing together wins in the Crucible across PS4, Xbox One and PC. And it won’t be long before Guardians have the full report on what new rewards will be available for the winning teams this week as part of the 3vs3 Crucible playlist. The weekly event returns today, August 21, with Trials of Osiris kicking off at 6pm BST, or 10am PT if you live in the United States.

As always, Guardians will have the chance to grab new loot, which can be traded for Legendary Shards.

But Bungie has also been confirming new details regarding its plan for the Destiny Content Vault.

With the launch of Year 4 on November 10th, Bungie will be relegating Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan activities to the Destiny Content Vault to make room for Cosmodrome’s return and Europa’s debut.

Bungie has already confirmed that when a destination goes into the DCV, so too do its PvE activities and associated rewards, but there are some edge cases and Bungie wants to be crystal about.

And a new statement this week provides more information, with Bungie confirming: “Up first are the core repeatable activities of Destiny 2: strikes, Crucible, Gambit, raids, and dungeons.

“This one is covered entirely by the standard Vaulting rule of thumb. As a destination is Vaulted, its strikes enter the DCV.

“As a reminder, Gambit and Gambit Prime will be merging into a single experience when Year 4 kicks off on November 10. The new version of Gambit will be similar to Gambit Prime as a single round face off with tweaked Blockers, heavier mote drain, and some changes to the Primeval fight. We will give more details on these updates before the revamped mode goes live next Season.

Unlike strikes and other PvE content, the Year 4 Gambit playlist map selection is a “best of” list (and is one of those edge cases we mentioned above). We felt it was important to keep the select Gambit maps in rotation for the best competitive play (regardless of their destination’s fictional state).”

“As Year 4 starts, we’re also taking the opportunity to focus the Crucible experience by reducing the number of PvP playlists and modes to those that receive the most play.

“This will increase the matchmaking pools for the remaining playlists and make it easier to find matches with better connections.”

The good news is that the Trials of Osiris experience is not impacted by other content moving into the DCV this year. The Lighthouse will continue to be available to those who are able to complete a Flawless passage.

Alongside Trials of Osiris, no dungeons will be rotating into the DCV this November, as all dungeon-hosting destinations will remain active in the game during Year 4.

When a destination enters the DCV, its PvE content will no longer be available. Explicitly, this includes their unique:

  • Story missions and cinematics
  • Strikes (detailed above)
  • Raids (detailed above)
  • Dungeons (detailed above)
  • Adventures
  • Secret missions
  • Vendors and associated bounties
  • Destination-specific patrols
  • Collectables & scannables
  • Destination-specific activities (Ex: Mercury’s Forge, Mars’ Escalation Protocol)
  • Freely roaming the destinations themselves, exploring Lost Sectors, etc.

Back to today and Bungie won’t be sharing any information on what Trials of Osiris rewards will be available, but they will confirm when the event is open to play.

The first information from the event will be shared by Guardians, who will be confirming the new loot unlocks and the map selection almost straight away.

The Flawless loot might take longer to confirm, but we’ll be sure to update this story as soon as we know more.

Returning players will want to visit Saint-14 just, who will be located in the Tower Hangar.

The Osiris reset offers a new inventory of Trials Passages, Bounties, and the option to turn in Trials Tokens.

A different map and a fresh set of rewards will be available to Guardians today if they meet the requirements of the 960 Power rating needed to buy Passages.

As ever, Trials fans will earn exclusive rewards by defeating other teams of three, while hoping to gain entry to the Lighthouse.
