Best Budget Camera Phones (2020) | Top cheap snappers reviewed

Full testing and reviews of the best affordable camera phones for 2020, offering strong photo and video capture on a budget. These are my favourite mobile snappers costing under £400 and some as cheap as £200. Despite that low asking price, these smartphones still offer some impressive camera tech and features, including ultra-wide lenses, dedicated night and portrait modes, and 4K video recording.

We start with a review of the Pixel 3a and XL, which can be grabbed on a deal right now for just £340. With the same great software as the flagship Google phones, you can expect strong results in any conditions.

On a tighter budget? My next camera phone recommendation is the Motorola Moto G8 Plus, which again delivers crisp, colourful photos in day or night. You get plenty of bonus modes to play with, as well.

Around that same cheap price point you can also snag the Oppo A9 2020, while a little less cash bags you the Realme 5 or Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8T. These all boast an ultra-wide-angle lens despite the affordable cost, while only a few little flaws can be picked out of their everyday performance.
