Andi Peters announces Lorraine exit as he confirms departure on air: 'It's my last day'

Along with Christine Lampard, Andi Peters has been keeping Lorraine viewers up to date with the latest interviews and showbiz gossip in recent weeks. As Lorraine Kelly takes a break from presenting duties, Christine and Andi had been taking it in turns to front the ITV talk show. However, when chatting with comedian Harry Hill this morning, Andi revealed it was his final outing.

Andi made the announcement rather casually as he introduced Harry onto the show via video link.

Introducing the comedian, Andi began: “Our next guest is Harry Hill,

“Now he’s been giving up some of his time to watch loads of TV shows from years gone past.”

The Lorraine host continued: “And he’s here right now – hey, with a funny moustache!”

Harry popped up on screen wearing a fake moustache as he kicked off their chat with a laugh.

The pair then began talking about Harry’s new TV show on BBC Two, which led to the comedian admitting he’d wished the show had covered Andi’s stint on Lorraine.

Harry said: “I tell you what, watching the show as I have been on my computer,

“I’m wishing that we’d covered daytime TV,” he said, bringing laughter from Andi.

“Andi, since lockdown I’ve been watching morning telly in the background whilst working,” began a second. “You’ve been a breath of fresh air and have loved watching you.”

Another weighed in: “Sad that it’s Andi’s last day hosting the show, time to keep Andi out. He has been like a breath of fresh air! Andi has been a fantastic stand in for the show.”

While a fourth added: “@lorraine love love love @andipeters hosting the show. Andi you have brightened up my days: more more more of Andi please @lorraine @GMB #bookandinow.”

As today’s show drew to a close, Andi took the opportunity to thank viewers for their support during his time on the show.

Andi decided the best way to say farewell was to belt out a rendtion of Spice Girls’ smash, Goodbye.

With a microphone in hand, Andi stood up from his seat but just as he was about to start singing, the studio descended into darkness.

In typical Andi fashion, the hilarious farewell was made even funnier as he pretended to be furious and stormed off the Lorraine set.

Lorraine continues weekdays at 9am on ITV.
