According to book Madonna as Postmodern Myth by Georges-Claude Guilbert, her confirmation was in 1966, when Madonna would have been eight-years-old, and it is not clear how the name factored into her life.
However, it is likely it became a second middle name, or a name not shared regularly except inside her church.
Madonna’s mother died in 1963 from breast cancer, something which Madonna has talked about in her later life.
She told Rolling Stone: “If she were alive, I would be someone else. I would be a completely different person.”
