Stephen Colbert leads outrage against Bill Clinton's DNC speech that 'lectured' Trump on behavior

Stephen Colbert has mocked the Democrats for featuring Bill Clinton discussing the importance of the Oval Office and lecturing President Donald Trump about his behavior.

Colbert, in his nightly riff off the two-hour convention, joked that Clinton’s expression was of shock – ‘seen here finding out Ghislaine Maxwell was just arrested,’ he joked.

‘The former president let Trump have it,’ Colbert said, cutting to show a clip of Clinton stating that the Oval Office ‘should be a command center.’

‘Instead, it is a storm center,’ Clinton said in his speech.

Colbert commented: ‘Alright, that’s true, that’s a good point.

‘But I don’t think Bill Clinton gets to lecture anyone on what should happen in the Oval Office.

‘Those in glass houses should not be allowed near the interns.’

Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern, revealed she had nine sexual encounters in the Oval Office with Clinton between November 1995 and March 1997.

Clinton slied under oath about the encounters led to his impeachment in 1998.

Social media users joined Colbert in mocking Clinton, with users pointing out that Clinton and Trump, both 74, were both impeached.

Trump’s four-month impeachment saga ended in February, after the House found him guilty and the Senate voted in his favor – preventing him being removed from office.

After Clinton and Andrew Johnson, Trump became the third president to be impeached.

Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress on December 18, 2019. His impeachment was sparked by his asking Ukraine to dig for dirt on Joe Biden.

Both Clinton and Trump were also accused of multiple incidences of sexual impropriety.

Trump’s fundraising team, on the Trump War Room account, said that Clinton was ‘the last person who should be giving lectures on what should or should not be happening in the Oval Office’.

Juanita Broaddrick, who in 1999 alleged that Clinton raped her in April 1978, while he was attorney general of Arkansas, was also scathing.

‘There are good men and there are bad men. Bill Clinton is a very bad man,’ she said.

Other social media users remarked at the ‘amazing’ decision to have the ‘heavily incriminated’ former president speak.

Fernando Uribe, a professor at Rutgers University, described Clinton as ‘a clown’.

‘For this CLOWN @BillClinton to lecture anyone about conduct in the Oval Office is absolutely RIDICULOUS,’ he said.

‘If the people who still support him had any dignity, they would denounce him.’

And another mocked the media for their ‘sudden revulsion’ at Clinton addressing the convention, noting that many had hoped four years ago for him to be back in the White House.

A Twitter user replied: ‘Best thing about the DNC tonight … Bill Clinton talking about what the Oval Office is for.

‘On the same day highly inappropriate pictures were released of him. I can’t believe they didn’t pull him from the line up!!

‘You just can’t make this up people. WTG DEMS!!’

Clinton’s address also came on the day that embarrassing new photos were published showing him receiving a neck massage, seated and fully clothed, by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims.

In the photos, Clinton sits comfortably and laughs as Chauntae Davies, then a 22-year-old massage therapist who acted as Epstein’s personal masseuse, rubs her hands into his shoulders to get out the kinks in his neck.

Clinton, then 56, had complained of having a stiff neck after falling asleep on Epstein’s infamous private jet, nicknamed The Lolita Express, while on a humanitarian trip with the pedophile to Africa in September of 2002.

Clinton traveled numerous times on the dead pedophile’s private Jet, socialized with his alleged Madame, Ghislaine Maxwell, and faced a slew of sexual misconduct accusations himself during his years in public life.

Clinton’s office previously issued a statement in regards to his travels on the plane and denied knowing anything about the financier’s crimes.

His team said he had only taken four trips with him in 2002 and 2003 – although flight logs showed he had taken a total of at least 26 individual flights in the course of those years.

‘President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has previously been charged in New York,’ a statement read.

‘In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the Clinton Foundation.

‘Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg or every trip.’
