Lisa Riley: Emmerdale's Mandy Dingle star breaks silence on 'fake and false' life

Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, 44, who is otherwise known as Mandy Dingle on the hit ITV soap, has spoken out via Instagram to celebrate her five years being sober. The soap star reflected on the “worst” memories of when she used to drink alcohol as she recalled living a “fake and false” life until 2015.

In view of her 141,000 Instagram following, Lisa shared a snap of a handwritten note which read: “5 years, 60 months, 1827 days, 43838 hours, 2630880 minutes, 157852800 seconds”. [sic]

The Emmerdale favourite divulged: “CElEBRATION. Wow, FIVE years ago today I drank my last drop of alcohol.

“I wouldn’t change it for ANYTHING, my life is so much clearer, happier, gained more glow, laugh so much harder, having the life I always dreamt of.

“No fake friendships, needing that someone who NEVER knows when to go home, not cringing when I open my eyes (have I argued with anyone) not remembering, that’s the WORST, maybe, we’ll not actually maybe, CERTAINLY, if you can’t remember it’s REALLY time to fully STOP!!!

“Living on stories from the past…..they are done, they happened, move forward.”

She went on to encourage people to follow in her inspirational footsteps by having some more “personal awareness”.

“And also just live the rest of your life free from all that is fake and false, have a personal awareness that the ones you have around you, whilst boozing are more than likely around for the wrong reasons because YOU are paying for the alcohol,” Lisa shared.

“Have a think, you might NOT drink…..yeah yeah yeah that rhymes enjoy a drink, should you wish (I won’t) don’t get saturated in it, big big difference.

Another added: “Brilliant, well done.”

It comes after Lisa revealed two years ago that she was stopping IVF treatment as the egg readings “weren’t good enough”.

She said: “Finding out that I was unlikely to get pregnant was a blow.

“But I refuse to be defined by that. People think women need to have a child to complete themselves, but that just isn’t the case. I feel that I have taken ownership of the situation now.
