Dillian Whyte arrives at Eddie Hearn’s Fight Camp and takes a first look inside the 38-foot motor home where he will be staying before his heavyweight showdown with Alexander Povetkin on Saturday

  • Dillian Whyte will be staying inside his own motor home before Fight Camp bout
  • Eddie Hearn revealed fears that Whyte would have attacked Alexander Povetkin
  • The heavyweights will showdown on Saturday and adhere to quarantine rules
  • But to keep them apart, Hearn has provided Whyte with his own 38 foot trailer

Dillian Whyte has taken his first look inside his new accommodation before his heavyweight clash with Alexander Povetkin at Fight Camp – a 38 foot motor home.

The 32-year-old will be staying in the trailer outside the hotel near Matchroom HQ in Brentwood – and has been afforded his own separate living arrangements to prevent tensions from flaring before his showdown on Saturday.

Promoter Eddie Hearn dramatically revealed his fears that Whyte would attack Povetkin at the hotel before the duo step into the ring, and has taken drastic measures to ensure both remain separated.

There has been no expense spared on the luxurious vehicle that Whyte, who arrived at Fight Camp on Tuesday, will be staying in.

It has often been the trailer of choice for Formula One teams during their travels around the world, and famed actress Kate Winslet has also made use of the Winnebago.

Matchroom have released a series of photos which lay bare the comfortable surroundings in which Whyte will be able to rest and relax ahead of his bout.

A dining room and living area, completed with comfortable leather seating, are laid out behind the driver’s cabin.

Whyte will also have full access to two bunk beds, as well as one large separate bed.

All fighters and staff involved in the four weeks of Fight Camp are subject to tightly-controlled coronavirus testing and quarantining rules, and are staying at a nearby hotel.

But permission was granted for Whyte to stay in his own motor home, just outside the bio-secure ‘bubble’, to prevent chaos in the days leading up to the clash.

Both fighters would have stayed in rooms on the same floor had Whyte not been made an exception, and Hearn even described the Brixton puncher as typically being ‘unpleasant’ during fight week.

The Matchroom supremo told Sky Sports: ‘No criticism of the fighters, but we’re talking about undisputed champions. We’re talking about No 1-ranked heavyweights. We’re talking about Olympic gold medallists.

‘And all of sudden the set-up changes completely and having spoken to Dillian Whyte I have to raise concerns to the British Boxing Board of Control about people like – and this is my main concern – Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin being in the same hotel.

‘Because the issue is not just they’re in the same hotel on different floors, they’re on the same floor. They’re on the same corridor. If Dillian Whyte bumps into Alexander Povetkin in the corridor, or out here on the grass, we can’t be responsible for the consequences.’

Placing Whyte in his own trailer was mooted as a potential idea to avoid any pre-fight bust-ups with the WBC interim heavyweight title up for grabs, as well as the chance to face Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder next.

Whyte will be aiming to win his 12th consecutive bout since suffering defeat against Anthony Joshua in 2015.

His opponent Povetkin, meanwhile, also last tasted a loss at the hands of Joshua. The British heavyweight kingpin downed him in the seventh round of their clash in September 2018.
