Michelle Obama snub: Democrats IGNORED ex-FLOTUS' Trump plea

Following a rousing speech after her term of First Lady of the United States was coming to an end, Michelle said that it was important that when opponents “go low, we go high”. This motto has followed the ex-FLOTUS all her life and was delivered during a Democratic National Convention, during which she opened up about raising her daughters and rising above negative influences. Yet, this message was not followed by her fellow Democrats, and those opposed to now-President Trump’s campaign in the last US election.

It was hoped by rising above some of his more negative comments, the Democrats could steal a march on their Republican rivals as Hillary Clinton bid to become the first female leader of the US in history.

But the advice fell on deaf ears, and soon Democrats took aim at Trump, with the likes of Symone Sanders – Bernie Sanders’ former national press secretary, firing insults and the Republican nominee, including calling him a “white supremacist” during a CNN interview.

Reflecting on her slogan, Michelle said it was still “absolutely relevant” in today’s climate during a 2019 NBC interview.

She explained: “And if you think about how you want your kids to be raised, how you want them to think about life and their opportunities, do you want them afraid of their neighbours?

“Do you want them angry? Do you want them vengeful?”

She added: “We want them to grow up with promise and hope.

“And we can’t model something different if we want them to be better than that.”

It came as Hillary Clinton revealed she could not be “civil” with the opposition.

She said: “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.

“That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again.”

It appears, however, that Michelle has also forgotten her own mantra, after she launched a bombshell attack at Trump as former Vice President Joe Biden was set to be unveiled as the Democrat nominee for November’s election.

In a message to the Democratic convention Michelle said Trump was “the wrong President for our country” before adding: “Our economy is in shambles because of a virus that this president downplayed for too long.

“Stating the simple fact that a black life matters is still met with derision from the nation’s highest office.

“Because whenever we look to this White House for some leadership, or consolation or any semblance of steadiness, what we get instead is chaos, division and a total and utter lack of empathy.”

The election takes place on Tuesday November 3.
