Liverpool ace could seal Anfield transfer exit because of Man City legend David Silva

Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri has been targeted by Lazio following David Silva’s decision to snub a move to the Serie A giants. The Manchester City legend was expected to switch to the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer but opted for a switch to Real Sociedad.

He opted to join Real Sociedad, however, which has seen Lazio bigwigs return to the drawing board, according to Nicolo Schira.

Director Igli Tare has slammed Silva’s decision and said: “I learn about David Silva’s transfer to Real Sociedad. I have great respect for the player, but not for the man.”

Lazio were confident Silva would join.

Ciro Immobile, the club’s star striker, said last week: “Great player and great experience, we are waiting for him with open arms. I can’t wait for him to arrive, before Lazio players we are Lazio fans.”

Meanwhile, Shaqiri has revealed he is eager to put a frustrating campaign behind him by helping Liverpool defend their league title.

Speaking at the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria, he said: “Always if you are injured or if you are not playing, you’re frustrated. But I’m looking forward to this season and trying to help the team all the time, so I have the chance to play like the first season.

“As a team, I just want us to achieve a lot of things. I think we have a lot of good players in our team, everyone can play and we try to make it very difficult for the coach as always.

“I’m trying to give my best too and to help the team to win games, titles – that’s the most important thing for me.”
